KARACHI, Nov 27: Switzerland is not only about chocolates, cheese or beautiful landscapes, but it offers much more in areas like value addition and technology.

To convey this message to Pakistani businessmen and the general public, a three-day ‘Made in Switzerland’ exhibition was held which concluded on Wednesday.

A publicity brochure highlighted that Switzerland has always been among the top five foreign investors in Pakistan and over the last decade Swiss investment in Pakistan has exceeded $1.5 billion.

The organisers hoped that the exhibition would give a fresh impetus to bilateral trade.

Forty companies ranged from watchmakers to pharmaceuticals participated in the event, organised by the Consulate General of Switzerland in partnership with the Switzerland Global Enterprise and Swiss Business Council in Karachi.

According to the State Bank, Swiss investment in Pakistan almost doubled from $49.6 million in the first four months (July-Oct) of the previous fiscal year (2012-13) to $93.9m in the same period of this fiscal year.
