SHEIKHUPURA, June 9: A Rangers official was shot dead and his cousin injured by highwaymen near Bhela village on Monday morning.

Reports said Rangers official Nadeem Akhtar, who had come to his village to spend vacation with family, was going with his cousin Shahid to a bus stop by a motorcycle when four armed men stopped them.

On resistance, they opened fire on the motorcyclists, killing Akhtar instantly. Shahid was injured. A teenager accompanying them remained safe.

The deceased’s family claimed that the incident was the outcome of enmity.

Relevant police have registered a case against the accused on the bereaved family’s report.

gang-raped: Four armed men on Saturday raped two girls and took away cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from their house at Anandpura village, Shahkot police station precinct.

Reports said four men barged into a villager’s house, held up the inmates and locked them in a room. They collected cash and jewellery, and raped two girls for four hours before escaping.

KILLED: A pick-up driver was killed when his vehicle collided with a tractor-trolley near motorway bridge on the Gujranwala Road on Saturday.

Reports said Nazar Muhammad, a resident of Mallian Kalan village, was on his way to city when his pick-up collided head-on with the tractor-trolley.

Nazar suffered severe hurts and died at the DHQ hospital. The tractor-trolley’s driver escaped.
