KARAK, Nov 9: The teaching community in Karak district has demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education minister to fill the vacant posts of chairman and secretary of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, without further delay. They said that the key vacant posts in the board were being occupied by junior and inexperienced officials, which was affecting credibility of exams and the board itself.

The demand was made by Prof (retired) Usman Jan Khattak, Azmat Khan and other teachers during a press conference here on Saturday. They regretted that the two high level posts were lying vacant at the BISE, Kohat, since long.

They said that no institution could flourish without its head, regretting that the Kohat board was fast losing its credibility. They said that they had brought the issue into the notice of the provincial government to fill the vacant posts, but so far no action was taken in this regard.

They said that the government should take the issue seriously and fill the vacant posts of chairman and secretary of the board on urgent basis.

OFFICE-BEARERS: Senior English teacher Nek Badshah was elected president and headmaster Abdullah Shah general secretary of the Tanzeem-i-Asateza, Karak district, on Saturday.

The other office-bearers include Mir Ajab Khan senior vice-president, Aslam Khan joint secretary and Mohammad Nabi Shah information secretary.

The election was held under the supervision of senior member of Tanzeem-i-Asateza Khairullah Hawari through secret ballot papers. On this occasion, Mr Badshah and Mr Hawari rejected the decision of the provincial government to adopt English as the medium of instruction from nursery class in schools and demanded that Urdu should be retained as the medium of instruction.

They also demanded increase in the allowances and timescale promotion formula for teachers.
