KHAIRPUR, June 6: The electric supply to seven villages in Seth Areja sub-division was disconnected on Friday by the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) following a scuffle between villagers and the company officials.

The scuffle broke out after the villagers of Adam Khan allegedly manhandled Hesco linemen Rab Dino Thebo, Noor Mohammad Soomro and others. As a result lineman Noor Mohammad was admitted to a hospital as he fell unconscious.

After the incident Hesco suspended electricity to Jalaluddin, Rasoolpur, Shahnawaz, Sher Khan, Fazalabad, Adam Khan and Faridabad villages.

The Hesco officials said Rs300,000 were outstanding against the residents of these villages.

The villagers staged a demonstration against the Hesco officials in Thari Mirwah. They said only a few villagers had outstanding dues while Hesco had compelled thousands of people to suffer.

WATER THEFT: The Thari Mirwah police have registered a case of water theft and obstruction in official duty against 12 growers on Wednesday.
