TIMERGARA, Oct 20: The Timergara police arrested the rapist of a seven year old girl here on Saturday night.

Fazal Mabood, station house officer of the Timergara police, told this correspondent that the police arrested the accused on the complaint of the girl.

He said the girl, resident of Shingrai, Timergara reported to the police she was raped by a youth, who runs a street shop.

According to the victim she was handcuffed by the accused when she went to his shop to buy toffees, and raped. The Timergara police registered a case under sections 376/511 of the Zina Ordinance and arrested the accused. Medical report and circumstantial evidence also proved the claim of the girl, said Mr Mabood.

The police official said the girl had shifted here from Peshawar some years ago.

Meanwhile, civil society activists Akbar Khan, Ibrash Pasha, Fakhruddin and Arshad, talking to mediapersons, demanded of the government to take notice of the case and give exemplary punishment to the rapist.

They also visited the victim’s family and extended their legal and moral support to it. They said the girl belonged to a nomadic family that had been living in a rented house at Shingrai for the last 15 years.

JOBS for YOUTH: Central president of Ahbab-i-Jamiat and former nazim of Islami Jamiat Tulba Syed Waqas Anjum Jafferi has demanded of the government to provide education and jobs to the talented youth.

He was addressing a convention of Ahbab-i-Jamiat organised by its Malakand division chapter at the Fishing Hut Chakdara on Sunday.

Former activists of Islami Jamiat Tulba from different districts of Malakand division were in attendance. The convention was also addressed by JI’s provincial deputy chief Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, former IJT nazim Abdul Wasi, Zakir Hussain, Zubair Safdar and Suhail Ahmad Babar.

The speakers said the IJT was a ray of hope for the country as it had been preparing youth to lead different sectors. They said the country was passing through a crucial stage and the youth had to come forward and take their responsibilities. They urged youth to lead the nation and pull it out of the crises.

YOUTH KILLED: Unidentified gunmen shot dead Zahoor, resident of Ouch, Adenzai, at Kotigram when he was coming home on his motorcycle on Saturday night. The killers escaped the scene. However, they left the car they were riding. Police impounded the vehicle and started search for the accused after registering a case. —Correspondent
