KARACHI: President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday said that the people would have to lend a helping hand to the government in order to restore peace in the city of Karachi and arrest culprits , DawnNews reported.

He insisted that restoration of law and order in Karachi was vital for maintaining peace in the country.

He was speaking at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, where he had gone to pay his respects.

During his visit, the president laid a wreath at the tomb of the Quaid and offered Fateha.

He was accompanied by the Governor of Sindh Dr Isharul Ibad, and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

Speaking to the media, he added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during his visit with US President Barack Obama would discuss drone strikes along with several other matters.

"The prime minister has raised the issue of drone strikes many times," said President Mamnoon Hussain.

He further stated that the possibility of bilateral trade would also be discussed between the two leaders.

Moreover, with respect to India-Pakistan relations, he said that Pakistan wished for cordial relations with its neighbour and India should also adopt a positive attitude toward Pakistan.

Responding to a query regarding the rapidly increasing prices, President Mamnoon Hussain also stated that the government was working to stem the increase in prices, and said that progress in this regard would be made soon.
