Published June 5, 2003

SUKKUR, June 4: The superintendent engineer, Irrigation, Guddu Barrage, Jawed Ahmed Taibani, and three other employees — Noor Mohammad Brohi (Darogha), Nazeer Ahmed (driver) and Hasil Abro (peon) — who were kidnapped by a group of armed dacoits some three days back reached home safely on Tuesday.

Some influential people of the area played a key role in their release.

Senior police officials contacted the influential people of the area and on their intervention the dacoits released them. The four released men reached the Bahoo Khoso police station from where they were sent to the Thull police station. Then they were sent home.

However, the SHO, Bahoo Khoso, claimed that the hostages were recovered after an encounter with the dacoits while they were trying to change their hideout.
