ISLAMABAD, June 3: The whole country faced the hottest day of the season on Tuesday with mercury rising to 51 degrees centigrade in Jacobabad, the highest temperature recorded in any city.

The Meteorological Department has forecast severe heat wave conditions for the next few days as all parts of the country will witness hot and dry weather except Kashmir where slight relief is expected due to isolated rains in the next 24 hours.

Like other parts of the country, the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are also in the grip of heat wave with Rawalpindi 43 degrees centigrade as compared to the capital where the temperature rose to 42 degrees centigrade, registering a slight increase of one degree from the previous day.

In Sibbi the temperature rose to 50 degrees centigrade. Multan, Larkana, Nawabshah saw mercury touching to 49 degrees centigrade, D.G Khan and Sukker 48 degrees centigrade, Lahore, Sargodha, Mianwali 47 degrees centigrade, Peshawar 44 degrees centigrade, Karachi 35 degrees centigrade, Quetta 36 degrees centigrade, Muzaffarabad 40 degrees centigrade and Gilgit 35 degrees centigrade.

The met office has predicted another hot day in Islamabad that would become windy in the evening. Similarly, weather in Lahore and Peshawar will be very hot and dry in the next 24 hours while it will be dry in cities like Karachi and Quetta. It will be partly cloudy in Murree with isolated rains in Muzaffarabad and Gilgit.

The hot weather has forced the people to remain indoors.
