HYDERABAD, June 2: Hafeez-ur-Rehman , a coach of PCB’s Regional Academy Hyderabad, on Monday accused Mahboob Alam Sherwani, who last week quit as secretary of District Cricket Association, of sabotaging the academy and other cricket-related development plans of PCB chairman Tauqir Zia for Hyderabad district.

In a rejoinder to Sherwani’s allegations, levelled in his resignation letter against Hafeez, he pointed out that contrary to the claims that he was served show cause notices by DCA thrice he was given only one show cause notice.

He said that neither he was given any letter of suspension nor PCB was informed about it. He denied that he had got ten of his club’s players selected in the academy and added that only nine players were taking part from the city in the regional academy.

Hafeez said that national selector Shoaib Mohammad was his personal friend that’s why he gave him due respect otherwise it was the responsibility of DCA Hyderabad.

He further said that DCA secretary also failed to discharge his duties entrusted to him by PCB about the conduct of trials of regional academy as the ground was not ready for the trials and there were no arrangements for the players as well as selectors.

He informed that it has been two weeks now since regional academy began but none of the DCA officials visited the ground and added that they also remained absent during the visit of administrator PCB academies, Col Mohammad Pervez.

He pointed out that it was for the first time that a large number of players from Hyderabad were being imparted coaching at regional academy otherwise only one player was used to be selected from the interior of Sindh.
