Arrest warrants for 800 people

GUJRAT, June 2: A local court issued arrest warrants for some 800 persons for disobeying court orders, Dawn learnt here on Monday.

Civil judge Ghulam Farid Qureshi issued arrest warrants for those witnesses and guarantors, including some policemen, who did not appear before court despite repeated summons.

The judge directed the area police to arrest the deserters and present them before court.

KILLED: A woman was killed while her minor son and husband sustained injuries on Monday when their car they were travelling in met an accident on the GT Road near Kulewal Syedan.

The car (STK-1522) going to Sialkot at high speed overturned owing to the bursting of one of its tyres. As a result, the woman died instantly while her husband and minor son Hasnain (3) received injuries. The name of the couple could not be known till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, on GT Road near Lalamusa, two car riders Javed Khan and Zahid Khan suffered injuries when their car (IDE-1922) was hit by another car (IDJ-9885).

KILLS WIFE: A man shot dead his wife on Monday over some domestic dispute in Maliku Wala village.

Shaukat fell into a rage after exchanging hot words with his wife Zahida Bibi and then shot her to death. Police sent the body to mortuary for autopsy.

Gujrat Saddar police have registered a case against the absconding accused.
