VEHARI, Sept 21: The bodies of four sisters who committed suicide because of delayed marriage have been fished out from the Mailsi Link Canal two days after the incident.

Rescue 1122 team in-charge Muhammad Imran told this correspondent that two bodies were recovered around 11am and the other two in the afternoon. He said the bodies were recovered within four kilometres range of the canal and handed over to the family at Mauza Hambalwala of Lodhran’s Kehror Pakka tehsil. A number of people attended their funeral prayers.

On Thursday, five sisters aged between 25 and 40 years drowned themselves in the Mailsi Link Canal after having frequent arguments over delayed marriage with their father. One of them, Pamo Bibi, was pulled alive from the water. — Correspondent
