KARACHI, May 30: Naseem Hameed and Majid Ishaq were declared best girl and boy athletes of the two-day Karachi Junior Athletics Championship which ended at the National Sports and Training Centre on Thursday.
However Naseem was the only athlete to win three events. She completed a fine sprint double winning 100 and 200 metres besides the long jump.
Majid became the fastest boy when he sprinted to victory in 100 metres He also won the triple jump.
Karachi Greens won the boys team championship edging out Karachi Whites while Karachi Whites lifted the girls team title.
Later Sind Education Minister, Mr. Irfanullah Marwat announced that the provincial government would build a sports gymnasium at Khatoon-e-Pakistan College for Women to provide sports facilities to the students of the college.
He also announced that the government had allocated a grant of Rs8million for sports in the next year’s budget.
