LARKANA, May 29: A large number of protesters carrying the body of Mukhtiar Ahmed Soomro, ASI police, blocked the SSP Chowk on Thursday in protest against the Karachi police for killing him.

The dead ASI’s brother, Amir Azad Soomro, led the protesters, who were later joined by an MNA from Larkana, Mohammed Anwar Bhutto.

Mr Amir told newsmen that the police allegedly killed his brother who was posted at the Gulzar Hadri police station in Karachi.

He said that police to hush up its crime claimed that he had committed suicide, and added a series of messages received from the Karachi police were controversial.

The district Nazim, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, and the district police officer, Larkana, Sultan Ali Khwaja, arrived there and talked to the protesters.

The district Nazim and the DPO phoned the DIG, investigation, Karachi, Fayyaz Leghari, and sought his help.

The DPO said that the DIG assured the district government for providing assistance, and added a police team from Larkana would soon set out for Karachi to reach a final decision.

He further said the DIG said that till the inquiry is completed, the three policemen, who were on duty when ASI Soomro was killed, will be put behind bars.

The protesters ended their protest over the assurance from the district government and the DPO.
