HYDERABAD, May 27: An under-trial prisoner, Rab Dino Shoro, died in his barrack at the Central Jail, Hyderabad, late Monday night.

He was facing trial in two separate narcotic cases, registered by the Hatri police. He was charge-sheeted in the cases about six months back.

The chief medical officer of the jail’s hospital, Pir Manzoor, said that Rab Dino had never remained a patient of his hospital and he had never been sent to another hospital.

He said that he had learnt from the inmates of his barrack that the prisoner had dined at 10pm, then went off to sleep; he then woke up at 12am and drank water after which he suddenly fell and died.

The chief medical officer said that it could be a case of cardiac arrest.

ACQUITTED: The STA court judge, Hyderabad, Hussain Bux Khoso, on Tuesday acquitted two former MPAs of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Salahuddin and Zafar Rajput, in three cases of arson and violence for lack of evidence.

Two cases were lodged at the B-Section police station under section 147, 148, 324, 353, 427, and 435 PPC. The third case was lodged against them at the Hussainabad police station.

The co-accused — Irshad, Azam, Zulfiqar, Nasir, Waseem Khawar and Ashfaque — have also been acquitted.

They were represented by Advocate Aslam Pervez.

The cases at the B-section police station were registered on July 22, 1993 and February 27, 1995. The case at the Hussainabad police station was registered on April 29, 1995.

The accused were alleged to have burnt vehicles.
