Today marked the day that Gamescom opened its floodgates to the public. Gamers answered the call of gaming, fully occupying the Cologne HauptBahnHof (Central Train and Bus station) and Tram lines, creating a scene from a movie.

Today's events:

Gaming and socio-political presentations alongside workshops will take place at the Gamescom congress. It is hosted by prominent figures hailing from various fields like science, education, politics and media. The primary area of focus was “debate on social impact and economic value of computer games”.

Gamescom Cosplay village held its “Drawersalley”, where different manga artists display their artwork and you can get your own face drawn manga style.

Gamescom casemod, a 24hr live modding championship also started today. The event will last for 24 hours where case modders will have to engineer a PC casing assembly from scratch on a topic given to them only a couple of days ago, using a normal PC case, dremel, wood, glass and grinders in front of visitor’s eyes. The victors will be decided by vote.

Gamescom speakers corner as well as Gamescom job and career centres started their operation from today. In speakers corner, inspirational and exciting talks will be held for the pre registered participants. The jobs and career centre will revolve around grooming, hiring and growing careers of those who are interested in game development.

In closing a Gamescom Party will be held for exhibitors only later tonight. Approximately 3000 guests are expected and its location is directly on the banks of river Rhine, near theater Tanzbrunne.

Call of Duty: Ghost’s upgrade plan is revealed. Which means for only $10/€10/10£ you can upgrade your game from Ps3 or Xbox 360 onto the next gen version Ps4 or Xbox One.

Trailers were unveiled at Gamescom for multiplatform games such as Rocksmith 4, Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Lego Marvel Super Hero, Sword: The Serpent's Curse and Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2.

Ps4 news:

New Gamescom trailers for PS4 titles Knack, Killzone, Shadowfall and Tearaway’s were shown. PS4’s User Interface is showcased, it’s super smooth and super fast. Switching between applications and games is responsive.

Everyone’s gone to Rupture is now confirmed as PS4 exclusive. Infamous Second Son is going to be released in Feb 2014. The Order : 1886’s advanced physics engine is introduced for the first time by studio’s CEO and creative director Ru Weerasuriya .

Xbox One News :

Ryse’s fight system was detailed to be more in-depth than previously thought. Also Gladiator Mode, a cooperative multiplayer mode where you gain points by “showing off” kills, is unveiled.

Killer Instincts Free 2 Play model is detailed. One character is free, each new character costs 4.99€ and Ultra edition will cost 39.99€.

Dead Rising 3 has got a few weapons inspired from Street fighter move list, which you can craft. Also you can mix and match vehicles, weapons and drinks which give you power up.
