HYDERABAD, May 26: The director general, Environmental Protection Agency, Sindh, Shafiq Ahmed Khoso, has said that the design of the Right Bank Outfall Drain has not been changed and it is being constructed according to its approved plan.

Talking to this correspondent at a workshop of environmental magistrates here on Monday, he said that the EPA had approved environmental impact assessment report of the drain which would rehabilitate Hammal and Drig lakes in Larkana district.

He said that the Sindh irrigation department had taken extra ordinary measures to avoid pollution of the River Indus by the drain.

He said that there were complaints from Haleji Lake and Bhaggo Thoro mountains that the RBOD would pollute the river water.

He said that the EPA conducted a project survey between Sehwan and Gharo, the starting and ending points of the project, and no change was witnessed in the design of project as claimed.

He said that the EPA conducted a public hearing in Karachi about the RBOD project and heard all the stake-holders.
