KHAR, Aug 8: Corps Commander, Peshawar Lt-Gen Khalid Rabbani on Thursday said security forces with the help of tribesmen had successfully eliminated militants from Bajaur Agency, while border areas had been secured from the militants’ aggression.“No one will be allowed to breach Bajaur Agency’s border areas,” he told a gathering of soldiers in the border areas of Nawagi tehsil of Bajaur Agency.

Lt-Gen Khalid said the writ of the government had been restored across the agency by security forces with the support and cooperation of tribesmen, while militants and their anti-social activities had been eliminated in the region forever.

He said life in the militancy-hit areas returned to normal after the elimination of miscreants.

The corps commander said the border areas of Bajaur Agency had been secured against militants’ infiltration from across the border due to foolproof security arrangements in the area.

He said the border areas had been secured, while no one would be allowed to use those areas for attacks in the region.

Lt-Gen Khalid appreciated the role of tribesmen in eliminating militants and restoring peace in the area and said the people of agency were the loyal and peace loving citizens of the country, who had always supported forces for the establishment of the government’s writ.

He said the forces were proud of the sacrifices of the tribesmen as they had been performing their territorial responsibilities according to the tribal system.

Inspector of Frontier Corps Major General Ghayoor Mahmood and senior officials of the security forces and the local administration were also present on the occasion.

The corps commander later visited posts of security forces in Bajaur Agency’s border areas and met security personnel.

On the occasion, he was briefed about the law and order situation and steps taken for security of Bajaur Agency’s border areas.

The corps commander expressed satisfaction with security arrangements and praised security forces for it.

PRISONERS FREED: The Bajaur Agency administration on Thursday released 16 people detained in the Agency Headquarters Jail in Khar for minor crimes.

Bajaur Agency political agent Abdul Jabbar Shah along with senior officials of the administration visited the jail and held brief court on the premises.

The jail administration briefed the political agent about the number of people detained in the jail and the crimes they had committed.

The political agent ordered release of 16 prisoners involved in petty crimes so they could celebrate Eid with families.

He later inspected various barracks of the jail and spoke to prisoners who informed him about their problems.

The political agent ordered the jail administration to provide prisoners with basic facilities and be friendly with them.
