ISLAMABAD, Dec 11: King Abdullah bin El Hussein has expressed his and Jordan’s solidarity with, and support for, Pakistan’s decision to join the international coalition against terrorism.

The message was conveyed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf here on Tuesday by Prince Hassan bin Talal. The challenges faced by the Muslim world in the wake of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks were discussed.

The president and Prince Hassan emphasized the need for concerted efforts by the Muslim countries to project the true spirit of Islam and counter negative perceptions by establishing think tanks and encouraging intellectual interaction.

The prince also called on the minister for religious affairs, Dr Mahmoud Ahmad Ghazi.

Prince Hassan later met the minister for Kashmir affairs, Northern Areas, states and frontier regions, Abbas Sarfaraz Khan, to discuss humanitarian assistance for Afghan refugees. A briefing on the situation in Afghanistan was also given.—APP
