ISLAMABAD, May 21: The federal directorate of education has signed an agreement with an NGO for the capacity building of its teachers in life skills with special focus on emotional health development of students.

The NGO — Rozan — initially will provide training to 25 teachers each from five schools — Federal Government Girls Middle School in G-6/2, G-7/3 and G-8/4 as well as Model Colleges for Girls in G-10/2 and G-10/2 and I-8/4.

During an eighteen-month exercise, the NGO will also supervise the teachers on how they would conduct life skill sessions in their institutions.

An official statement said so far education system in the country has been largely exam and degree-oriented with little or no attention being paid to the development of emotional intelligence, healthy life skills and values, and very few schools provide opportunities for the holistic personality development of the students.
