HARIPUR, May 19: Local shopkeepers took out a procession from main bazaar on Monday to protest against Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) for having permitted an industrial fair in the city.

They converged at Sheranwala Gate and then marched through the bazaar. Abdul Saboor Qureshi, Naib Nazim of Union Council Shumali led the procession. In their speeches, leaders condemned the TMA decision.

They claimed that the fair was, in fact, a ploy to fleece shoppers. The TMA had allowed the holding of fair for a Rs3,000 per day rent. The fair management obtained a stay order against the Nazim’s order on Saturday.
