THIS is with reference to your editorial ‘A shameful move: Swiss saga again’ (June 28). Do you think they know the meaning of the word ‘shame’? I mean those who did their utmost to prevent looted money being brought back into the country.

The great tragedy of Pakistan is that no one has ever been punished. If, as you say, Mr Nawaz Sharif is serious about pursuing the Swiss cases, he should “demonstrate an equal willingness to look within his own party’s ranks for misdeeds and corruption”, and if he does so, it would indeed be a miracle.

But this is a government which is not serious about catching smugglers, power thieves and tax evaders (whether in its own party or in the opposition), so you can be sure this miracle will not happen.
