QUETTA, May 17: At least four policemen and five students were injured in a clash in the Balochistan University on Saturday.

The police took 20 students into custody after the clash.

The students were protesting against increase in the university hostel fee for the last many days.

During a demonstration held in this regard on Saturday a group of students tried to enter the administration block.

The police guarding the block resisted the students’ move on which they started pelting stones, injuring four policemen, smashed windowpanes and damaged some officials’ vehicles parked in the area.

The police resorted to baton-charge and used tear gas to disperse the students. At least five students were injured.

According to sources two policemen were admitted to a hospital while others were allowed to go home after first aid.

The students’ organizations that had arranged the demonstration claimed that 15 students were injured in the clash.
