SHEIKHUPURA, May 17: Five members of a family hanged a woman and her daughter to death over suspicion of loose morals in Hajipura locality of Sharaqpur Sharif and threw their bodies in the river Ravi on Saturday.

According to Sharaqpur police, Azra, 38, and her daughter Naila, 20, had allegedly developed illicit relations with some people and used to visit them regularly. Their family members admonished them on several occasions, but all in vain.

On Saturday, they took Azra and Naila to the bank of river Ravi and hanged them with a rope tied to a tree. The bodies have not yet been recovered from the river.

Police have registered a case against Azra’s father Sharif, her son Nazir, Zulfiqar and two others.
