ISLAMABAD, June 27: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Thursday announced the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2013, in which girls once again outshined the boys.
The result was announced at the FBISE in which State Minister for Education and Professional Training Baleegh-ur-Rehman participated as the chief guest.
According to the results, 53,697 of the total 69,136 students passed the exams, a passing percentage of 77.67. Overall, five top positions were bagged by girls in the science subjects, while boys obtained four top positions in the humanities.
A total of 43,489 students appeared in the science group of which 40,278 passed, while in the humanities, 6265 of the total 8344 students passed.
In the Science Group, the first position was shared between Rehmeen Zahid of the Rangers Public School, Rahim Yar Khan and Abdul Wasay Ikhlaq of the F.G Boys Public High School, Wah Cantt with 1,026 marks.
The second position was shared by Noor Khalid and Mohammad Umer Arshad, both of Army Public School, Rawalpindi Cantt with 1,025 marks.
The third position was shared between Sana Riaz and Tooba Anwaar of the Fazaia Inter-college Chaklala and Army Public School, Kohat Cantt respectively at 1,024 marks.
In the Humanities Group, the first and second positions were bagged by Mohammad Umair and Ubaid Riaz of the Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad, with 938 and 926 marks respectively. Shareen Shafi of Al-Amaal English High School, UAE obtained the third position with 924 marks.This year, 26 cheating cases were reported of which 20 cases have already been decided through the procedure.
Addressing the occasion, Baleegh-ur-Rehman said the government would expand the role and function of FBISE by giving it the power to control private educational institutions as well.
The minister said the present government would regard merit while appointing people in the public sector, and would also verify their degrees.
