MIRAMSHAH/PARACHINAR, June 23: A soldier was killed and two others received injuries when a convoy of security forces was attacked in Mirali tehsil of North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.

Sources said that the convoy was on way from Mirali camp to Bannu when a bomb, planted along the road near a checkpost, went off. As a result, a soldier was killed on the spot and two others were seriously injured, they added.

The injured soldiers were shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.

The killed soldier was identified as Habibur Rehman while the injured included Mohammad Farooq and Shahidullah.

The security forces imposed curfew in the area after the incident and launched a search operation. However, no arrest was made.

Meanwhile, a labourer was killed when security forces opened firing on him. Sources said that the victim violated curfew by going to the rooftop of the building of a government high school in Miramshah. He was talking by his cellular phone when the security forces opened firing on him, they said. He was killed on the spot.

In Kurram Agency, a man was killed and three others were injured seriously in a blast on Sunday.

Local sources said that the four men were returning from Karkhano area in lower Kurram where they had gone to attend marriage ceremony of a friend. Their car was blown up by a time device, planted in the car, when they reached Karkhano Pathak, they added.

The driver identified as Iqbal Hussain was killed while Mujahid Hussain, Baqir Hussain and Haji Shabir Hussain were injured in the blast. The dead and the injured were shifted to Agency Headquarters Hospital, Parachinar. —Dawn Report
