QUETTA, June 16: A partial strike was observed in the city on Sunday on the call of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) to condemn the killing of dozens of people in bomb blasts and firing on Saturday.

Trading centres on the Jinnah, Prince and Sirki roads, Shahrah-i-Iqbal and in Liaquat and Surajganj bazaars remained closed.

However, shops on the Sariab, Joint and Brewery roads and in Hudda bazaar remained open.

Vehicles plied on the roads as usual and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the city.

The national flag flew at half mast on all government buildings in Quetta and other parts of the province as per Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch’s announcement that Sunday would be observed as a day of mourning.

At least 25 people, including the deputy commissioner of Quetta and 14 girl students, were killed on Saturday when a bomb tore through a bus, followed by a suicide attack and a gunbattle in the Bolan Medical College and Hospital.
