Teachers to stage rally on 15th

Published May 14, 2003

SWABI, May 13: Provincial chairman of All Teachers Association (ATA) Mian Ayub Kakakhel has said that teachers will stage a protest demonstration on May 15 against the NWFP government’s intention to appoint senior English teachers on contract basis.

In a press release issued here, he said the ATA had opposed the contract policy from the very beginning and this struggle would continue because the teaching community had been made a victim on one pretext or the other. He said the government had planned to appoint teachers of different cadres on contract basis.

He accused the government of appointing 14 senior teachers in violation of rules.

He said that CT teachers should be promoted to senior posts and the government should give up the contract appointments of the teachers.
