KOHAT, May 13: The railways telegraph system between Jand in Punjab and Kohat in the NWFP is out of order for the last many days, causing long delays in the arrival of the railcar from Rawalpindi.

The assistant station master of Kohat Railway Station, Kausar Siddiqui, told this reporter on Tuesday that the telegraph system on the old track usually remained out of order, but the PTCL was doing nothing to permanently remove the problem.

He said that the problem was causing two to three hours delay in the arrival and departure of the railcar running between Kohat and Rawalpindi.

He complained that PTCL staff only temporarily removed the fault, which hardly worked for an hour.

He said due to the absence of telegraph connection between Jand and Babri Banda, the engine pulling the railcar first travelled to the next station to ensure that the track was clear and then retuned to carry the railcar.
