ISLAMABAD, May 13: Three women legislators belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) on Monday criticised Gen Pervez Musharraf, saying he had betrayed the trust of the Kashmiri Mujahideen.

Terming the move to close down the training camps in Azad Jammu and Kashmir betrayal of Pakistan’s national interests, MNAs Tehmina Daultana and Begum Ishrat Ashraf as well as Senator Sadia Abbassi, said the general had “no right to sell out Kashmiri Mujahideen” to India and the United States.

Speaking at a joint press conference, they described the move as “stabbing the Kashmiri freedom fighter in the back.”

They recalled a recent statement by Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, who had been quoted as saying that former United States president Bill Clinton had offered a $100 million bribe to Nawaz Sharif in 1998 if he refrained from going nuclear in response to the Indian nuclear blasts, but he (Nawaz) had rejected the offer and refused to sell out Pakistan’s interests.

They said in time, people would realise facts about who had really blocked the Kashmir Jehad.

Accusing Gen Musharraf of “seriously damaging national interests” and following the traditions set by his predecessor military dictators, they said that the general could “no longer be tolerated at the helm of political and military affairs of the country.
