Musharraf indicted in judges' detention case

ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorist court indicted General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in the judges’ detention case on Saturday.

He was indicted during a hearing of the case at his farmhouse residence in Chak Shahzad by ATC judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi.

The charges against Musharraf were read out to him, which the former army strongman refused to accept.

Following which, the court summoned prosecution witnesses for the upcoming hearing of the case.

The case is based on an FIR against the retired general registered in August 11, 2009 on the complaint of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman advocate.

He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.

The case is one of three against Musharraf in courts within Pakistan. He is also accused of involvement in a conspiracy to murder Benazir Bhutto in 2007 and over the 2006 killing of Baloch nationalist leader Akbar Khan Bugti.

Musharraf returned to Pakistan in March after nearly four years of self-imposed exile to contest the May 11 general election.

When will this witch hunting stop ? There will be another day and another set of rulers and what would it be like when the present set of rulers and justices are brought before a new set of justices in the supreme court on similar charges . This vicious circle has to stop somewhere . Now is the time to start with a clean slate .

I am very curious to know that when Gen. (r) Musharaf was in power and when he resigned why was this case not recorded then. Why after he left. What will the judiciary decide is another matter but why cry over the spilled beans

The character this so called azaad adliya has shown after they re-occupied their places is to clearly be believed that detention was a very very minor action against them (if that was done so, otherwise, they actually kept themselves in their homes just for propaganda and getting sympathy of the common public). The country will get sigh of relief if they all are sacked finally as they are interfering in the matters of all the departments of the country. How a country can run this way ?. Unfortunately, this quota system is a killer who gives chance to give jobs of such a calibre minds where the real intelligence required and not a mediocre brain who can bring disasters.

A personalized case being heard and directed by the people whose own judicial and Governance credibility is questionable. There is no justice on merit in this country, where every other person can be proved guilty of something at some time. Buck up General Musharaf

The only man who stood firmly against the terrorist , who firmly stood against anyone who tried to harm Pakistan , the only one who did not indulge in corruption and has a clean record and the only one who represented Pakistan in a positive light to the world , is now being hounded by cowards who are willing to surrender to the terrorists and who have a very shady past . There will be a "tomorrow" , when these people who have hounded and baying for his blood , will have to face the people of this nation when the people wake up to the facts and realize that they have been taken in by swindlers , thieves and thugs who managed to reach the assemblies by hook or by crook . There will be another day inshallah .

What is happening in Pakistan is just a matter of shame. All three cases against Musharraf are political vendetta. An ATC judge is indicting the past president of Pakistan; it is a joke. I have the feeling that if this nonsense does not stop, some thing is going to happen in Pakistan - the military rule!

let it be an example for the Military never ever to meddle with politics. Hang the tirant in the middle of a Major Square infront of the GHQ, or better yet gather all the General and make them watch. Then bring in the grandson of Governor Bhugti to pull the rope.
