PPP, MQM to decide Sindh coalition on Sunday

KARACHI: Former coalition partners Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are set to resolve the matter pertaining to the latter’s inclusion in Sindh government in a meeting scheduled to take place at Chief Minister House in Karachi on Sunday.

Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, former interior minister Rehman Malik, Agha Siraj Durrani, Dr Farooq Sattar and Dr Sagheer Ahmed among other leaders of both parties are expected to participate in the all important meeting.

Earlier in the day, Durrani had hinted an early inclusion of the MQM in PPP’s Sindh government. He was speaking to media representatives after attending the cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister.

The meeting decided to unveil the provincial budget 2013-14 on June 17.

Meanwhile, the MQM has called an ‘emergency’ meeting of its parliamentary committee at its headquarters Nine-Zero in Karachi’s Azizabad neighbourhood in the wee hours of Saturday.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain will address the meeting, which is expected to make important decisions regarding joining the PPP government in the province.

On Thursday, Rehman Malik talked about his “close contacts” with the MQM leadership hours after CM Shah held a meeting with Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and reportedly discussed with him prospects for a renewed partnership in Sindh.

“We definitely want the MQM to join the government in Sindh,” Malik said while talking to reporters at the Karachi airport. “I am in touch with MQM leaders and hope that contacts would help resolve issues. The two parties have been enjoying very good understanding and relations for five years,” he added.

They are the natural partners in Sind. PPP is more dominating one, therefore, their back and forth tactics on issues bring misunderstandings among the two. Some of PPP's Sind ministers have two faces. They have their own motives. If only serious and honest to the core members are chosen to keep the collation alive, Sind will be a province of pride for all the Sind residents. The local bodies elections is the route cause of their break ups. Why this problem can not be solved at the first stage ?. This is the basic government structure in all over the world who can solve the problems of the citizens at their door step. We should not be political on this issue but be honest for the bright future of the province.

In my opinion joining PPP in sindh government would not be a wise step, MQM have learned much lesson in the last coalition government. Now they should not disappoint their voters by joining sindh government. If it once more repeated the same course, only will loose their credibility. PPP have never been sincere with MQM and it is expected that once more they are trying to trap MQM. Last coalition government was left by MQM when PPP sindh government issued order to release all crimnals of lyari Gang war, for whom millions of rupees head money were declared. if it is not true then the mqm's sympathizer will understand that separation from the coalition government was only a drama to choose care taker setup by their own will, I must ask mqm's leadership what about the other demands?. Like municipal bill which was implemented when the MQM was coalition parter and later it was changed as per sindhi nationalist will, there are many more question are in mind to be asked if MQM joins sindh government.
