LAHORE, June 6: Punjab boys and girls annexed the trophy in their respective categories as the Inter-provincial Athletics Championships for U-16 girls and U-14 boys concluded here on Thursday.

The Punjab girls claimed seven gold and eight silver medals to stand first on the podium while the province’s boys notched up six gold and seven silver medals to take the top spot.

In the U-16 girls events, Punjab aggregated 89 points, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa grabbed second position with 38 points and Sindh managed 34 points to seize third place.

Punjab’s U-14 boys also accumulated 89 points while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earned 40 points and Fata 34 to take second and third positions respectively.

Meanwhile, chief guest Director General Sports Punjab Dr Mohammad Salah Tahir gave cash prizes amounting to Rs15,000 each to Javeria Kiran of Punjab (best female athlete) and Chand Waseem of Punjab (best male athlete). Muskaan of Fata was awarded with a special cash prize of Rs5,000.

Boys:

100m: 1 Humayon (Fata), 2 Mohammed Husnain (Punjab), 3 Chand Waseem (Punjab). 400m: 1 Chand Wasim (Punjab), 2 Amir Abbas (Punjab), 3 Mohammed Faizan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

Girls:

400m: 1 Javeria Kiran (Punjab), 2 Afeera Naz (Punjab), 3 Rimsha Rizwan (Islamabad).
