OKARA, June 4: A woman and her family suffered burns when her estranged husband threw acid on them at 50/3R on Tuesday.

Shahid tied the knot with Iqra Bibi some time back but they developed differences and the woman returned to her parents. She also filed a suite for dissolution of marriage in a court.

Shahid came to his in-laws’ place to remove differences but the woman refused to return home. Around midnight Shahid threw acid on Iqra Bibi, her mother Faizan Bibi, sisters Nasira, 8, and Mehwish, 5, and a guest, Saif Ali. He fled the scene.

A Rescue 1122 team shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital where the condition of Faizan Bibi was declared dangerous.

The Cantonment police registered a case.

INJURED: Robbers on Monday night shot at and injured a police constable near Faridkot village.

A Deepalpur police team during routine patrol stopped beside a car on suspicion and constable Amjad saw four men sitting inside it.

The car occupants told the police that they had run short of fuel and the next moment one of them opened fire, injuring the constable.

The assailants sped without much resistance. Amjad was referred to Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital in a critical condition.

The Deepalpur police instituted a case.
