BAHAWALNAGAR, May 22: Two proclaimed offenders gunned down two men and injured another in Chak Noor Mohammad Bhagra village in Takht Mahal police precincts on Wednesday.

Maqbool and Fiaz allegedly opened fire at Ahmad Ali, Munir and Hanif, killing Ali and Munir at the scene and injuring Hanif. The assailants fled on a motorcycle after the incident.

Rescue 1122 shifted injured Hanif to the District Headquarters Hospital and he was later taken to a Bahawalpur hospital because of his critical condition.

The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. A police source said murders were the result of crossfire between two groups, but local witnesses rejected the police claim. The witnesses said the victims were unarmed. It’s said that Ali was a police informer and got police protection a year ago. He was also associated with a private news channel.

SHOT DEAD: A man on Wednesday killed his son-in-law in the Chak Chooriwala village after he contracted court marriage with his daughter.

Zahid, a resident of Mandi Sadiq Ganj, contracted court marriage with Perveen, a resident of Chak Chooriwala, because of opposition by Perveen’s family.

Parveen’s family called the couple for reconciliation, where her father Abdullah and his accomplices shot Zahid dead. Abdullah fled after the incident.

A case was registered by the Mandi Sadiq Ganj against the accused.
