QUETTA, May 22: Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal said on Wednesday that had the establishment not stolen the mandate of his party it would have won at least 12 seats of the Balochistan Assembly in the recent elections.

The BNP-M has won two seats each in the national and provincial assemblies.

Speaking to the BNP-M workers and supporters who came to Wadh from different parts of the province, he said people had reposed confidence in the party, giving ‘mandate’ to it.

Tribal elders and party workers present on the occasion congratulated Mr Mengal on winning the National Assembly seat for Khuzdar. “I am thankful to the people for reposing confidence in me and my party through their votes for the National Assembly seat,” he said.

He said his opponents had used all kinds of tactics against his party but were defeated due to the support extended to him by the people of the area.

“The people are aware of the anti-people mindset and methods used by the government to change the results in the past.”

He warned the authorities of the consequences if they tried to change the results this time.—Staff Correspondent
