ECP rejects MQM’s petition to hold re-polling in all NA-250 stations

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday rejected the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) petition which sought re-polling in the entire NA-250 constituency of Karachi, DawnNews reported.
The ECP declared that re-polling would only be held in 43 polling stations in Karachi’s NA-250.
Moreover, it was decided that military personnel would be deployed both inside and outside the polling stations during re-polling.
Earlier, the ECP in a meeting headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim had reserved the decision to hold re-polling in NA-250 following MQM’s petition.
In a latest development, MQM called for an emergency meeting of its central coordination (Rabita) committees in London and Karachi to decide its course of action following the decision of the ECP.

As Haider Abbas Rizvi of MQM put it, " the election in Karachi 250 is between Bun Kabab and Burger" In my opinion if election is held in 43 polling stations, Burger is most likely to emerge as winner. However, I wish both MQM and PTI best of luck. In the end 'democracy" will be the winner.

ECP should give equal and similar opportunities to both the parties, it was fair to conduct elections over all the constituencies under army security. Who wants to divide and rule?

After NA250. The election commission needs to do the same in the rest of the country in particular Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, rest of Karachi, Peshawar, Multan etc.

No decision in Pakistan is a fair decision. I am supporting PTI but we need to be fair, and the election should be held across the board since they were not fair in most of the Pakistan constituency.

MQM is so confident about its mandate and claims to be the most popular party in Karachi. I wonder why it is so reluctant about the re- polling in the polling stations were voters were unable to exercise their constitutional right!

To me there is no harm to re poll in full constituency if MQM and PTI leaders agree. As PTI leader Arif Alvi asking for re polling in full Karachi, it mean he is agree for full re polling in 250 constituency. PEC should re consider for votors satisfaction.

Kudos to ECP and Fakhru Bhai for defying MQM's demand. It's about time that we don't succumb to MQM's pressure. They have played havoc by creating a scare amongst Karachities and urban Sindh. Just because ANP, and now PTI, are emerging as a known force in Karachi and urban Sindh does not mean MQM should cry wolf. They should counter these two parties on the democratic front.

we know M.Q.M. will call for strike after their meeting rather than showing some constructive leadership ,Altaf bhai you are ok but we have to go to school,earn livelihood for our family,sick people has to go to hospital if there is no transport we can't catch London double decker.

It would have been unrealistic to expected miracles from the Caretaker government. But they had the whole government machinery at their disposal to avail enviornment to hold free n fair elections. Its sad to see the ECP and Mr's Khoso' gov couldn't acheive the goal they were assigned
