CHITRAL, May 12: The voters in Chitral reciprocated to the former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for starting work on Lowari tunnel project as two of the nominees of his party returned to the assemblies from the district.

In NA-32, Shahzada Iftikharuddin of APML bagged 29,420 votes against 24,077 votes of his closest rival Abdul Latif Khan of PTI, while former MNA from Chitral Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali of JI lagged behind by 7,000 votes bagging 20,582 votes.

The results of two of the 257 polling stations of NA-32 were yet to be received but the strength of the two polling stations was too low to change the result of the polls.

In PK-89, Chitral-I, Shahzada Khalid Parvaiz of APML, lost to Saleem Khan of PPP, by a close margin of 900 votes.

Another nominee of APML, Ghulam Mohammad, bagged 10,691 votes to defeat Sardar Hussain of PPP by a narrow margin of only 71 votes.

Meanwhile, a defeated candidate of APML Abdul Latif said in a press conference on Sunday that the staying in election race by Shahzada Iftikharuddin of APML was illegal as the party leadership had boycotted the election. —Correspondent
