HYDERABAD, May 8: The sessions judge, Hyderabad, Hussain Bux Khoso, on Thursday began judicial probe into the killing of an estate agency owner, Hubdar Leghari, who was gunned down by the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) officials in February within the jurisdiction of the Bhittai Nagar police.

Mr Khoso recorded the statements of two witnesses, Rasool Bux and Ahmed Ali, father and brother of the man killed respectively.

The judge began the probe under the directives of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench.

The court has issued notices to other witnesses in the case.

Hubdar was shot dead along with an alleged car lifter, Manzoor Jatoi, on Feb 27 outside his estate agency by ACLC officials.

Another alleged car lifter, Ghulam Shabbir Kalhoro, was seriously injured.

Hubdar’s father, Rasool Bux, had filed a constitutional petition in the Hyderabad circuit bench of the SHC, seeking registration of a case against ACLC officials, particularly its in charge, Mehboob Sipyo.

However, Justice Maqbool Baqar, on April 14 referred the case to the sessions judge, directing him to ascertain the facts and order registration of an FIR if it turned out to be a cognizable offence.

TWO INJURED: Two people, Liaquat and Ghulam Abbas, were shot and injured at the Iqbal hotel restaurant in the jurisdiction of the City police station late Wednesday night.

A case has been registered at the City police station against four unidentified men.
