HYDERABAD, May 5: Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Rahila Tiwana has expressed concern over the lack of cleanliness and provision of sub-standard food at the Sir Cowsjee Mental Hospital.

During her surprise visit to the hospital here on Sunday, she also expressed her annoyance that even those patients who had fully recovered were not being discharged from the hospital.

Ms Tiwana paid visit to the hospital following many complaints about the pathetic condition of the hospital.

The Deputy Speaker said action would be taken against the officials concerned for their negligence in duty.

Earlier, talking to newsmen at the circuit house, Ms Tiwana claimed that the local bodies system was corruption-free as all the councillors in a union council jointly supervised development schemes.

She further claimed that differences between officials and elected representatives had been removed. About Karo-kari, she expressed her determination to root out this custom.
