KARACHI, May 3: The final of the Younis Memorial snooker tournament will be played on Sunday evening in the best of three frames at the Karachi Club beginning at 6.00 p.m.
The one frame only tournament organised by the Karachi Club reached the quarterfinal stage and matches to decide the semifinalists, was to be played on Saturday evening.
But the organisers have changed the programme and the eight quarter-finalists emerging from this one frame knock out tournament will now take on Karachi’s top eight cueists in the current ranking tournament.
The eight that qualified for the last eight in the one frame tournament were Aneel Bherwani, Vinay Parwani, Hasan Arif, Yasir Bachani, Ahmed Salim, Aamir Sheikh and young Ahad Ali Khan.
These eight will now take Karachi’s top eight ranking players for a berth in the final.
The top eight Karachi players from the Pakistan rankings are Pakistan’s No.1 Khurram Hussain Agha, former world and amateur champion Mohammad Yousuf, Pakistan No.4 Naveen Perwani, Vishan Gir, Amit Parwani, Ateeq Latif Baksh, Shakeel Bhatti, Minhas Malik or Faisal Essa, whosoever is available from amongst the two.
After the draws for the tournament are removed, the quarter-finals will begin from 3.00 p.m. in the best of one frame.
The final however, to be played at 6.00 p.m.
