OKARA, May 3: The law enforcing agencies continued their operation on Saturday and arrested four more tenants.
The agencies reportedly arrested Abdul Jabbar, Muhammad Akram and Sajjad, a grade nine student, who are stated to be the brother, uncle and cousin of Anjuman Mazareen’s former president of Okara and former Nazim of union council Mehr Abdul Sattar. They were returning to their village from the vegetable market by a tractor-trolley when arrested.
Hanif Masih was arrested from Chak 9/4-L along with bull cart.
When contacted, Punjab Anjuman Mazareen president Liaquat Ali confirmed their arrest and said there was no case registered against them.
He said it seemed that the military farm administration wanted to put pressure on Mr Sattar to surrender before authorities.
Meanwhile, the Anjuman held a meeting in Chak 9/4-L and decided to file a writ petition for the release of the arrested men through the legal aid committee formed by the PPP.
The meeting also decided that tenants would court arrest on Sunday after a protest procession by the children and women.
A spokesman for the forces denied on Saturday more arrests.
