No big deal, it happens all the time around the world where professionals are sworn to secrecy, it makes waves in closed societies only. In hindsight if only the good Doctor's patient had revealed his fatal illness voluntarily, much bloodshed, hatred and subsequent wars could have been avoided.

Does religion of a medical doctor really matter? I am surprised at obsession of religion by the Pakistanis.

It is the greatness of the visionary Quaid-e-Azam to have ensured that his fatal illness was not disclosed. This just shows how selfless he was. Because if his illness was disclosed at the time of partition, Nehru would have tried to buy some more time from his friend Mountbatten and Pakistan may not have been formed. Why cant our leaders of today even come close to the Quaid's selflessness?

Good...So what, Doctors can be of any religion or nationality! People do not look at doctors religion or nationality....its the matter of choice, comfort and trust with them. Doctors are doctors after all, thats why we go to any of them! I am a muslim and my doc. is hindu, that means nothing to me..I do not go to look into his personal stuff. Anyhow, I know you feel proud because the father of our nation was being treated by him, but its not a big deal, believe me.

Never heard of a Patel who was a Zoarashtrian - most of the patels I know are from the Swaminarayan sect.

We are proud of him too, Zoroastrian are a proud nation and people of character and principal. I studied and worked with many during my early days in Karachi. Quaid married, befriended and served with many Zoroastrian during his life. Yes you should be proud of Dr. Patel.

Mate in that case you seem to be living in the isolation. There are lots of Zorastrians in India with Patel as their surname. It was common for a Zorastrian to adopt the surname as per their profession few to list are Desai, Munshi, Munsaf, Khansaheb, Davar, Daftari, Patel, Aga etc

With no disrespect... Just imagine had Dr Patel disclosed the fact that Mr Jinnah is severly ill, the partition could off been averted & the country would still be one where the Hindus, Muslims, Parsis, Christians & many others live in harmony. The history is proof that partition of India has done more bad than good (except for the fraction of power hungry top end). Spare a thought for the millons of lives that were lost during the migration & in the subsequent wars till date, the loss of cultural identity & the diversity. The extremism nurtured by the so called top ends tore apart the cultural fabric that was together for thousands of years. The military build up from past 66 years could off gone against the betterment of people & development of the nation... It is a complete shame that the leaders of past had a short vision where personal goals had priority over the millions who knew nothing the "political tug of war" that was played behind the curtains of "religious ideologies"... I'm sure Dr. Patel would agree with this...

you have a poor understanding of the issues surrounding Partition, It was not Jinnah on his own which led to partition, the All India Muslim League was a movement long before Jinnah joined it after leaving the congress party. You have simply swallowed indian propaganda as if partition was due to one person. He simply led a movement, Jinnah did not create the movement. The history of the Indian subcontinent going back a thousand years has never been of one nation, rather a collection of individual sovereign nations. This single nation idea is in fact a creation of the British empire, not something inherently 'indian'. Read the history and you may learn something.
