Measles awareness

Published January 10, 2013

THE recent outbreak of measles in Sindh has engulfed many lives of innocent children. Poor immunisation seems to be the major reason behind the frequent outbreaks of the disease, while poor sanitation, malnutrition, lack of awareness, false beliefs about the disease are the other important causes behind the spread of the disease.

It is easily treatable and further loss of precious lives can be prevented just by awareness and vaccination. The expanded programme on immunisation and the Sindh health department should immediately launch a vaccination campaign.
