THIS is apropos the news item ‘Remarks made by SC judges upset Senate’ (July 28). I failed to understand why the SC remarks have been taken as an advice to the opposition instigating them to put up resistance instead of walking out.
The SC remarks were in reply to the contention that the contempt of court law was passed in a record short time. In this context, the judges said that when the opposition stages a walkout and only the treasury bench is there, in this situation the opposition’s contention that no debate was taken on the issue becomes irrelevant. As a matter of fact, it supports the treasury benches. Any matter seen without reference to the context becomes misleading.
