CHAKWAL, June 11: A man allegedly poisoned his wife to death after torturing her, sources told Dawn on Monday.

He used to beat his wife and on Sunday evening, a quarrel took place between them. G.H. started beating his wife with a club as a result of which she received serious head injury and fell down after which the accused poisoned her.

When the neighbours came to know about the incident, they informed the victim’s brother who rushed to the scene.

“When I reached there, my sister was lying unconscious. We rushed her to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead,” the brother of the deceased, told Dawn and alleged his sister did not die of the head injury but was poisoned by the accused.

He further told that the accused disappeared from the village after committing the crime.—A Correspondent
