ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday admitted the petitions filed against Speaker Fehmida Mirza's ruling on the disqualification reference against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for hearing, DawnNews reported.

 A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard the petitions.

The petitions were filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khwaja Asif and Senator Zafar Ali Khan.

The petitioners had challenged Mirza’s ruling of not forwarding a disqualification reference against the prime minister.

Afterr hearing the arguments of the lawyers, the apex court declaed that the petitions were worthy of being heard.

Notices in this regard have been sent to the prime minister, the speaker and others party to the case.

The hearing of the petitions was subsequently adjourned to June 14.
