SWABI, April 16: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has alleged that both Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have pushed the country towards destruction and multiplied the miseries of people.Addressing two different functions here on Monday, he said that the decision of his party to launch a movement for bringing a change in the country shook those people, who had devised plans to rule the country. He said that they wanted to get rid of the corrupt rulers, who failed on all fronts and used state machinery for their personal interests.

Mr Qureshi said that people followed the philosophy of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Similarly, people owned the non-violence philosophy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, he added. “Now Imran Khan has come forward in a difficult period and he is also supported by masses,” he said.

Mr Qureshi said within no time PTI had become popular among masses as the party had become the voice of people. The movement launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had already engulfed the whole country, he claimed. He said that those, who opted to join PTI had made a wise decision. He said that Imran Khan was striving to change destiny of masses, who suffered badly owing to flawed policies of the rulers.

The former foreign minister said that government failed to deliver. He said that the country was burning and their houses were on fire. “There is terrorism, poverty, lawlessness, corruption, unemployment, economic decline, weakening of the institutions and the great problem is that there is no ray of hope,” he said.

He said that Imran Khan was the only hope to bring a change in the country. “We will eradicate corruption from the society when we come into power,” he added.

Mr Qureshi said that both PPP and PML-N had pushed the country towards destruction and multiplied miseries of people.

“Political parties except PTI have adopted policies to achieve their vested interests and they have failed to deliver,” he said. He added that people were suffering owing to inflation as prices of essential commodities were increasing every day. He demanded of the rulers to quit.

Speaking on the occasion, Jehangir Tareen said that rulers wanted to harm the increasing popularity of PTI among masses. The corrupt politicians could not block their way as situation was taking a positive turn with each passing day, he added.

“We want to reform our society and bring change,” he said, adding that they wanted a bright future for the country and its masses.

PTI provincial president Asad Qaisar also spoke on the occasion. The workers and local leaders of different political parties quit their parties and announced to join PTI.
