MANSEHRA, Jan 30: The Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) of United Kingdom on Monday handed over cheques to over 100 orphans for their education and other expenses in Balakot.

The majority of beneficiaries had lost their breadwinners in the October 2005 earthquake. In this connection a ceremony was held in Balakot which was attended among others by relatives of orphans.

The representatives of UWT Mohammad Siddique, Iftikhar Ahmad and Mohammad Didar distributed the cheques.

Iftikhar Ahmad and Mohammad Didar said the UWT wanted to help orphans stand on their feet.

They said the trust was extending financial assistance to more than 100 orphans of Balakot for last several years.
