KARAK: The five people named in the Alamzeb murder case have been arrested for necessary legal action, said district police officer (DPO) of Karak Sajid Ahmad Khan Mohmand on Tuesday.

Mr Mohmand told an emergency meeting of the relevant police officials at the office of SDPO Takht Nusrati Subhan that Waheedullah, ASI Hakeem Khan, Mohsin Shah, Islam Din and Sher Ali Shah named in the FIR had been arrested, while the remaining accused, Ibrahim, brother of ASI Hakeem Khan, was still at large.

He said an inquiry into the alleged negligence of police tasked with providing security to Mr Alamzeb had already been initiated. He asked SP (investigation) Aslam Khan to complete the inquiry without delay and said strict action would be taken against those found responsible for security lapse.

The DPO said transparent investigation would be made into the killing of Alamzeb and no concession would be given to the culpable people and officials.

SDPO Subhan told the meeting that a targeted operation had already been initiated for the arrest of the accused.

He said the fugitive, Ibrahim, would be arrested soon, adding that a special task force was making raids on different places in the district and other parts of the province for the arrest. —Correspondent
