LAHORE, July 7: Two citizens and an alleged thief were killed in three separate incidents here on Thursday.

Kot Lakhpat police said a 22-year-old thief was killed during a failed bid at Ittefaq Foundries in small hours.

Quoting witnesses, the police said four thieves entered the Ittefaq Foundries, but the watchmen present there challenged them. The suspects opened fire on the watchmen which was retaliated. Consequently, one of the thieves died instantly while his accomplices managed to flee.

The dead thief was identified as Zahoor Ahmad of Chungi Amar Sidhu.

Model Town SP (Operations) Malik Muhammad Awais said the thieves had apparently come to steal items of iron.

He said the security at the Ittefaq Foundries had been reinforced due to rising incidents of theft some two months back. He said the Kot Lakhpat police had also enhanced patrolling in and around the factory.

Shahdara police said 30-year-old Nazir Ahmad of Kala Khatai Road was asleep on the rooftop of his house when a stray bullet hit him in small hours. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police have registered a murder case against unidentified people on the complaint of victim's brother Anjum Sohail.

Sattokatla police said 19-year-old Muhammad Khalid of Pattoki was asleep at his shop in the PIA Housing Colony when some unidentified attackers fired at him and fled.

After hearing gunshots, the people reached there and rushed the injured to hospital where he died.

Police shifted the body for an autopsy.
